Crypto Market Jumps 3% Overnight as Bitcoin Climbs Back Toward $78,000
The global crypto market rose 3% to $2.77 trillion on Tuesday, with Bitcoin climbing to nearly $78,000 and Ethereum topping $2,500, as tokenized real-world assets led gains across the sector.
The crypto market woke up in a considerably better mood Tuesday than it's shown in recent sessions.
The global cryptocurrency market capitalization rose 3% to $2.77 trillion as of early Tuesday trading, according to CoinGecko data, with total 24-hour trading volume reaching $91.8 billion. Bitcoin climbed to $77,983.80, up 1.6% on the day, while Ethereum pushed past $2,500. Bitcoin's dominance across the broader crypto market held steady at 56.6%, with Ethereum accounting for roughly 11.1%.
Market sentiment, tracked through the widely-referenced Fear & Greed Index, sat firmly in "Greed" territory at 69 — a notable rebound from more cautious readings earlier in the month, when broader risk-off pressure across traditional markets had weighed on crypto prices too.
The biggest movers of the session came from an unexpected corner: tokenized assets and real-world asset (RWA) cryptocurrencies posted the largest gains across the entire market, continuing a trend that's picked up momentum through much of 2026 as traditional financial products increasingly get represented on blockchain infrastructure.
There's a regulatory thread running alongside the price action, too. Canada's Office of the Superintendent of Financial Institutions clarified this week that tokenized bank deposits are legally equivalent to traditional deposits — a relatively technical ruling, but one that matters for banks and fintech firms exploring blockchain-based deposit products, since it removes ambiguity about how such products would be treated under existing banking regulation.
For a market that's spent much of September swinging between rallies and pullbacks tied to broader macroeconomic jitters, Tuesday's bounce offers at least a temporary return to the kind of "Greed"-driven momentum crypto traders have grown accustomed to chasing.
