At the Asian Games 2026 in Nisshin, India's women's team demolished Sri Lanka by 147 runs in the gold medal final, successfully defending the title they'd won at the 2023 Hangzhou Games. Chasing India's imposing total of 216 for 3, Sri Lanka collapsed to just 69 all out, giving India's women a commanding, largely one-sided victory in a rematch of the previous Games final.
For a single Tuesday, Indian cricket managed both extremes at once — a nail-biting, history-making squeaker against a cricketing newcomer in Japan, and a dominant, gold-medal-sealing rout on the Asian Games' biggest stage.
